"My capoeira name is Tornado. My real name is Deborah Bozic and I have been doing capoeira for 3 years
It always puts me in a good mood. Each person gives a part of themselves in everything they do and that makes all the hard work worth it."
"My capoeira name is Peixe. I am 11 and started at the Capoeira Academy about 2.5 years ago. I like it because it's fun, a good work out, and the people are really nice. I especially like the music because I am a percussionist."
"Cloro, at the academy for 10 years (at least); Omulu Capoeira makes capoeira fun and accessible for everyone from young to old, newcomers to experienced capoeiristas. From someone who can't do a cartwheel to another who has done martial arts, they will take you where you are at and everyone supports you, has fun, and helps you learn at your own pace."
"name/nickname: Rhea/ Cuscuz
Length of time: about five years
Something positive: joining capoeira has given me a new outlook about myself and what I can do. I feel more confident about myself and i feel inspired and supported by my friends in the capoeira community."
"This group is unbelievably welcoming and easy to get along with. I had no idea what capoeira was when I showed up to my first class, but because of the people and the music, I was hooked!
I've been at the academy for 6 months or so."

"I've been attending the academy since August 2017, and have enjoyed all aspects of it since. A rundown of a lot of the benefits -
- Your bang for your buck! It's an incredible price for the list of people and resources available to you for training, space, and musical instruments. There's a wide range of belts so you don't just get the benefit (many times if you're new) of working 1-on-1 with the higher belts, but many others are very open to assisting with working with their peers 1-on-1 to help them improve.
- Full Body training and health - I've done various types of physical condition and strength training, and Capoeria has beaten many of those by far. As I've gotten older I've focused less on the strength/strong man training and focused more on mental sharpness, physical awareness, and overall body health. Capoeira targeted those fields perfectly. It's even helped a lot in my flexibility which I lost a lot of after my first child was born.
- The team - I haven't found a single person at the Academy that I don't jive with; in training or personally. Everyone is there to treat each other the same and there's very little competitive feel; although there are members whom are open to if you're up for it. There's also a great dynamic of male to female ratio which is a nice change of pace coming from a dude who's spent a lot of time at the weights in the gym.
- Leg Day - I hope you can work from home, because you'll be unable to walk the next day; j/k but not really. My butt has never looked good in a pair of jeans, and you better believe that all the other dudes are jealous. It's a great level for getting you ready for that standing desk at work, and will make you feel like you can kick a horse in the mouth."
